Dan, "all mixed up for 35 years," is an experienced audio engineer and pilot as well as principal in 2 Penney.
Dan Penney has been a prolific songwriter and musician since he was eight years old. He and his brother, Jeffrey, formed several bands, including MALPRACTICE and PENNEY. They opened for AEROSMITH, THE CARS and EDGAR WINTER, among other well-known bands of the era. For two years they lived in L.A. and produced four singles that received airplay. They also worked in advertising writing original jingles. PENNEY recording musicians included Chet McCraken (DOOBIE’S), Mike and Jeff Porcaro (TOTO), Ross Valory (JOURNEY) and Greg Erico (SANTANA), to name but a few.
Dan left the music business for twelve years to raise a family, although he continued to write music and perform. He also acquired an air transport pilot and instructor certificates and worked in real estate and sales. In 2005, he raised capital to produce a rock opera called LIGHTHOUSE -- THE PROJECT, but he put it on hold when Jeffrey died.
Dan’s recent marriage to Elizabeth coincided with the revival of his writing and musical career. The duo has completed multiple scripts and are working on another, as well as a treatment for a television series. Dan is re-releasing older work and busy writing new songs in order to finish LIGHTHOUSE -- THE PROJECT. Dan is licensed through BMI, and owns two companies, Penmad Music and Intent Music.
Dan is the father of a daughter, Moriah, and a son, Jackson, and the grandfather of Trevor Daniel, born in 2008. He enjoys working on his family farm in Randolph, NH, as well as skiing, kayaking, photography and lying on the beach--during rare downtime.
